SEN Transition
We have effective Transition arrangements in place for children at all stages of their time with us.
Children starting our 2 year old provision are visited, at home, by early years practitioners. Staff liaise closely with health visitors and any outside agencies involved with children.
Parents of children starting nursery are invited into school for a meeting to discuss their child’s time in nursery. Each child and parent are visited at home before they start with us.
Transition from our Nursery unit, or external nurseries, begins with short visits into the reception classes. Children from other settings are visited either at home or at their Early Years provider. A meeting for parents to set out the procedures and expectations for their child's time in our school is organised and during that time children visit their new class. Parents are also informed of all of the ways their child can be supported during their time with us.
Transition sessions, for all year groups, towards the end of the summer term prove successful every year across the school.
At the end of their time with us, children begin visits into our local academy and junior schools.
The SENCO meets with the SENCO of your child’s new school to ensure there is a seamless transition of support.
If you have any questions about our SEND Local Offer please contact the school and we will try our best to help you.
