Community
In this section of our website we would like to share our images of events and visits with you. We have also added information about our close links with our local community, some visit our school on a regular basis and work closely with us to help make changes.
Reverend Elaine
Reverend Elaine is the vicar from St. Cuthbert’s church in Manor Way, Peterlee.
Our children are enjoying assemblies with Reverend Elaine. On a Wednesday, Reverend Elaine and some volunteers from the church come into school to tell the children some stories from the bible. The children are able to act them out and help out in assembly. This contributes to part of our RE curriculum.
Allotments on Lowhills Road
We are very lucky, we have some raised beds at Lowhills allotments. We enjoy visiting the allotments, in small groups. The children plant vegetables and flowers throughout the year. This is a wonderful resource and we are enjoying making strong links with the local community. We have recently secured a grant for little picnic benches. If you have any spare time and would like to help out at the allotments, please pop into the school office and leave your details.
Carol singing at The Hawthorns Nursing home
Children from year 2 visit the nursing home in December. The children sing Christmas carols and songs to the residents. It is a lovely morning and our children brighten up the resident’s day.
Food bank
Every year, staff collect donations of food and send it to the FEED project at East Durham Trust. This is a service very local to the school.
